Tender Description
This tender invites qualified contractors in Karachi to undertake the improvement and rehabilitation of Rashid Minhas Road, a critical traffic corridor from Drigh Road (Shahrah-e-Faisal) to Shahrah-e-Usman 4-K Chowrangi via Nagan Chowrangi. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's Engineering Department requires comprehensive civil works including patch work, sewerage system upgrades, PE pipeline installation, median and footpath construction, drainage and water leakage repairs, ancillary works, electrical installations, beautification and renovation of bridges and flyovers, urban flooding catchment and well works, and engineer's facilities. The project's estimated cost is PKR 1.128 billion with a completion timeline of six months.
The scope covers dismantling existing asphalt and concrete surfaces, earth excavation, cold milling, aggregate base course laying, asphalt concrete wearing course, cement paving blocks, sewerage manhole repairs, pipeline installation including HDPE and RCC pipes, electrical street lighting, traffic signage, and flood mitigation works. The site is located in Karachi, Sindh, and involves complex urban infrastructure requiring adherence to engineering standards and environmental considerations. Contractors must ensure proper site management, safety, and quality assurance throughout the project.
Bidders must be registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council in category C1 or above, possess valid NTN and be on the Active Taxpayer List of FBR and Sindh Revenue Board, and have relevant experience with an average annual turnover meeting project requirements. Compliance with PEC licensing, FBR/ATL status, and submission of bid security and integrity pact are mandatory. The bid validity period is 90 days, and the bid security is 5% of the estimated cost.
The submission deadline is on the 21st of January 2026 at 11:00 AM, with technical bids opened immediately thereafter at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department office. Bids must be submitted online via the SPPRA e-procurement portal. The physical address for correspondence is Office #01, Behind Dawood Engineering University, Engineering Department, KMC, Muslimabad, Karachi.
Pro-Tip: Ensure your bid documents include all mandatory PEC and tax registrations, and double-check the bid security format and amount. Missing or incorrect bid security is a common cause for disqualification. Also, carefully review the detailed Bill of Quantities and specifications to avoid pricing errors, especially for composite schedule rates and provisional sums.
