Tender Description
This tender invites qualified contractors in Karachi for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of sewerage lines, water supply lines, and paver blocks in UC-05, Muhammadi Colony, Keamari under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department. The project involves excavation, laying of RCC and HDPE pipes, construction of manholes, and installation of sluice valves, along with paving works using high-strength cement blocks. The scope covers sewerage and water supply infrastructure upgrades, including earthworks, pipe laying, and surface restoration with paver blocks. The site is located in a densely populated urban area requiring careful management of traffic and utilities.
Contractors must be registered with PEC in relevant categories and disciplines, hold valid NTN and SRB registrations, and demonstrate experience with similar government projects. The project demands a minimum annual turnover matching the estimated cost and possession of required machinery such as dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, and rollers. The contractor must submit a detailed construction schedule, method statement, and ensure compliance with all local laws and safety regulations. The contract duration is six months with a daily penalty for delays.
Bidders should ensure their PEC category and FBR/ATL status are current for the fiscal year 2025-26. The bid security is 5% of the estimated cost, and an Integrity Pact is mandatory for contracts exceeding Rs. 10 million. The contractor must provide performance security and mobilization advance guarantees as per the bidding documents. All bids must be submitted online via the SPPRA e-Procurement system by the deadline.
The submission deadline is on the 25th of March 2026 at 11:00 AM, with bid opening at 11:30 AM on the same day at the Office of the Chairman Procurement Committee, Engineering Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Muslimabad, Karachi. Bidders must submit bids electronically through the EPADS portal. Physical submissions or late bids will be rejected.
Pro-Tip: Carefully review the bid security requirements and ensure the Pay Order or Call Deposit Receipt is submitted both online and physically before bid opening. Missing this step is a common cause for disqualification. Also, verify the PEC registration category and ensure the proposed supervisory staff have valid PEC registration certificates attached with their CVs to avoid technical rejection.
