Tender Description
This tender invites bids for the replacement of 90 KVA Ground Power Units (GPUs) at Bays 23, 24, and 25 of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority. The scope includes dismantling existing 180 KVA GPUs, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning new 90 KVA GPUs along with associated electrical and civil works such as cable laying, trench cutting, and installation of distribution boards. The project demands high-quality materials and adherence to technical specifications ensuring compatibility with aircraft power supply standards and environmental conditions at the airport.
The work involves complex electrical installations including 400 Hz cable connections, metal sheet distribution boards, and protective devices. Civil works include careful trenching through cement concrete roads without damaging existing infrastructure, requiring skilled workmanship and coordination with airport operations. The contractor must ensure all equipment is corrosion and UV resistant, with factory and site acceptance tests conducted under supervision. The site is in Karachi, Sindh, with environmental challenges such as high humidity and temperature variations.
Bidders must hold valid Pakistan Engineering Council registration in category C-4 with EE-04 code and comply with FBR Active Taxpayer List requirements for the fiscal year 2025-26. Earnest money of PKR 4,000,000 is mandatory, submitted as Call Deposit Receipt or Pay Order. The tender follows PPRA Rule 36(b) and requires electronic bid submission via the PPRA EPADS portal, with original bid security submitted physically before bid opening. The contract includes a defect liability period of two years and requires performance security for works exceeding PKR 10 million.
The submission deadline is on the 13th of March 2026, with electronic bids opening at 11:30 AM, 30 minutes after closing. Physical bid submission is recommended but not mandatory. Bids must be complete with technical and financial documents, signed on each page, and comply with all instructions. The office address for correspondence is Suite # 3041, Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.
Pro-Tip: Ensure strict compliance with the bid security submission requirements, including timely physical delivery of the original instrument, as failure to do so will result in outright rejection. Also, carefully review the technical specifications and approved manufacturers list to avoid disqualification during evaluation.
