Tender Description
This tender invites experienced marine vessel repair subcontractors registered with Income Tax and Sales Tax Departments to undertake miscellaneous ship repair and maintenance work at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited, Ship Repair Division in Karachi. The scope covers a variety of repair and maintenance tasks essential for the upkeep and operational readiness of marine vessels, requiring specialized skills and adherence to marine engineering standards.
The work will be conducted at the West Wharf Road facility in Karachi, involving technical challenges typical of ship repair such as corrosion control, structural integrity checks, and system maintenance. Bidders must prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with the detailed bidding documents, which include specifications, bid security, and performance guarantee requirements. The technical bid evaluation will focus on prequalification criteria ensuring only capable contractors proceed to the commercial bid stage.
Bidders should ensure compliance with PEC registration relevant to marine or civil works and maintain active FBR/ATL status for the fiscal year 2025-26. It is advisable to review the Public Procurement Rules 2004, especially Clause 33, which governs acceptance or rejection of bids. Proper documentation including Earnest Money in the form of Call Deposit Receipt (CDR) is mandatory.
The submission deadline is set for 30th April 2026 at 11:00 AM, with technical bids opening the same day at 2:00 PM at the Ship Repair Division office. Bidders must submit sealed bids physically to the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Ltd office located on West Wharf Road, Karachi.
Pro-Tip: Make sure to check the newspaper advertisement carefully for specific stamp duty and bid security requirements, as these are often overlooked and can lead to disqualification. Also, ensure your technical bid fully addresses the prequalification criteria to avoid rejection before the commercial bid stage.
