Tender Description
This tender invites contractors in Gilgit for the construction and maintenance of Small Medium Drainage Systems (SMDS) canals over a period of three years. The project involves building canals of various sizes including 3'x6', 40'x3', and 35'x3' dimensions, aimed at improving water management and irrigation infrastructure in the region. The work requires expertise in civil construction, canal lining, and water flow management to ensure durability and efficiency in Gilgit's unique terrain and climatic conditions.
Contractors must be prepared to handle the engineering challenges posed by the mountainous landscape, ensuring proper canal stability and water tightness. The project demands compliance with local construction standards and environmental safeguards to maintain the ecological balance. The site location in Gilgit necessitates logistical planning for material transport and workforce accommodation.
Bidders should hold a valid PEC registration with the appropriate category and possess an active FBR ATL status for the fiscal year 2025-26. Submission of a Call Deposit Receipt (CDR) amounting to PKR 500,000 as earnest money is mandatory. The tender process follows the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules, and all documentation must be complete and accurate to avoid disqualification.
The submission deadline is set for 29th April 2026, with bid opening scheduled on the same day. Interested parties must submit sealed bids to the office of the Chief Engineer, WAPDA Gilgit Division, before the deadline. Late submissions will not be entertained. The physical address for submission is clearly stated in the tender documents.
Pro-Tip: Ensure your bid includes all technical certifications and the SMDS Structure Stability Certificate as required. Missing these documents is a common reason for rejection. Also, verify the stamp duty requirements on your bid documents to avoid last-minute issues during bid opening.
