Tender Description
The H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry at the University of Karachi, Karachi, is procuring a comprehensive Critical Point Dryer (CPD) system along with all necessary accessories. This procurement is specifically for the Karachi campus and aims to enhance the laboratory capabilities for processing delicate biological and nanostructured samples. The system includes a bench-top, manually operated critical point dryer designed for CO₂-based drying, a specimen transfer boat/sample holder, a recirculating heater/chiller, and two liquid carbon dioxide cylinders with dip tubes. The CPD system is intended for gentle drying of fragile wet polymeric gels to produce aerogels and other sensitive materials. The equipment must be fully integrated, ready for immediate laboratory operation, and comply with safety and operational standards.
The technical scope covers the supply, installation, and commissioning of the complete system. The pressure chamber is horizontally mounted with viewing ports and safety pressure relief mechanisms. The recirculating heater/chiller must provide precise temperature control from 0°C to 80°C, and the CO₂ cylinders must be high-pressure rated with a minimum capacity of 45 kg each. Consumables such as sealing gaskets and O-rings for two years of operation, user training, and local service support are also included.
Eligible bidders must have valid FBR/ATL registration, a minimum of three years relevant experience, and meet the financial turnover requirements equal to the bid amount for the last three financial years. PEC category is not explicitly mentioned but bidders should comply with all qualification criteria. The bid security is 2% of the bid value, and performance security is 5% of the purchase order value.
The submission deadline is **28-April-2026 at 11:30 A.M.** through the EPADS system, with bid opening at 12:00 P.M. on the same day. Bidders must submit a copy of the bid along with the original bid security pay order to the Purchase Department at ICCBS, University of Karachi. The delivery time for the items quoted on FOR basis is five weeks from the date of contract award.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure that the tender summary sheet is completely and accurately filled and accompanies the bid documents, as failure to do so will result in rejection. Also, timely submission of the original bid security pay order to the Purchase Department before the deadline is critical to avoid disqualification.
