Tender Description
The NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, invites bids for the procurement of Electronic Wheelchairs for its Department of Bio Engineering and Medical Engineering located at the Main Campus. This procurement is part of the project Development of Assistive Device (Batch 2) and aims to supply high-quality electronic wheelchairs to support mobility-impaired individuals. The items being procured include:
- Electronic Wheelchair Structural & Drive Assembly (45 units): Complete structural and drive assembly including mild steel circular tube frame, seat support, backrest with push handles, armrests, footrest assemblies with locking mechanism, front fork and steering assembly, front caster wheels, rear drive wheels with motor assemblies, parking/brake locking mechanism, joystick/remote mounting bracket, motor mounting hardware, and all associated brackets and hardware. The frame is fabricated from high-quality mild steel with a durable powder-coated anti-corrosion finish.
- Electronic Wheelchair Electronic Control & Power System (45 compatible sets): Complete electronic control and power system comprising rechargeable battery unit, motor controller, joystick control unit, wiring harness, connectors, charging interface, battery charger, fuses/protection devices, and all associated accessories required for complete operation. All components are supplied as a compatible integrated set ensuring reliable performance and interoperability with the structural and drive assembly.
The technical scope requires bidders to supply fully compatible and integrated electronic wheelchairs meeting the detailed specifications provided in the bidding documents. Delivery is expected preferably within 30 days after the award of contract at the Bio Engineering and Medical Engineering Department, NEDUET Karachi. Bidders must have at least 3 years of relevant experience, valid NTN and GST registration, and a local presence in Karachi. Bid security of Rs. 0.5 million is mandatory, and bids must be submitted electronically through EPADS only; manual bids will not be accepted. Performance security of 5% of the contract price will be required upon award. The warranty period for the equipment is six months from the date of installation with free parts and labor. Late delivery penalties apply at 0.1% per day up to 10% of contract value.
The deadline for bid submission is the 9th of June 2026. Bidders are advised to carefully review all bidding documents, ensure compliance with technical specifications, and submit complete bids with all required documents including affidavits and undertakings. One practical tip for bidders is to verify their bid submission on EPADS to confirm inclusion in the bid opening list to avoid disqualification. This procurement offers a valuable opportunity for qualified suppliers to contribute to assistive technology development at a premier engineering university in Karachi.
