Tender Description
The Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma Karachi is procuring construction and completion works for the establishment of a Burns and Plastic Surgery Ward at its Karachi premises. This project involves comprehensive civil, electrical, plumbing, and allied works executed in accordance with detailed designs, drawings, technical specifications, and the Bill of Quantities. The scope emphasizes strict quantity and quality control to meet the high standards expected by the department.
The technical scope includes fabrication of heavy steel works, laying of marble flooring, installation of sanitary fittings such as jet showers, bib cocks, and toilet paper brackets, as well as extensive plumbing works involving high-density polyethylene and uPVC pressure pipes. Electrical works cover wiring for lighting, fan points, plug points, and main/sub-main PVC insulated copper conductors in conduits. Fire safety equipment such as dry chemical powder and AFFF foam fire extinguishers are also part of the procurement.
Eligible bidders must be duly licensed by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in category C4 with relevant codes, registered with FBR, SRB, and NTN, and possess proven technical and financial capacity. The bidder should have completed at least three comparable contracts in the public or large private sector over the last five years, with an average annual turnover of no less than Rs. 300 million. Bidders must also be active taxpayers and not blacklisted by any procuring agency.
The tender submission deadline is strictly enforced with bids to be submitted electronically via EPADS SPPRA by the specified closing date. The bid security is 5% of the bid price, and a performance security of 10% of the contract price will be required upon award. The contract completion period is three months from the notice to commence.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure that each page of the bid documents is signed and stamped as required; failure to do so will result in rejection. Additionally, bidders should carefully prepare their technical proposals demonstrating their ability to meet the project schedule and quality requirements. Early registration on EPADS SPPRA is mandatory to avoid last-minute submission issues.
This tender represents a significant opportunity for qualified contractors to contribute to a vital healthcare infrastructure project in Karachi, backed by the Health Department Government of Sindh with an estimated cost of **PKR 16.213 million**. All interested parties should review the bidding documents thoroughly and comply with all instructions to ensure responsiveness and eligibility.
