Tender Description
This tender invites well-reputed freight forwarders in Karachi to provide comprehensive sea freight forwarding services for dispatching defense stores from Malir Cantt Karachi to Chittagong Seaport, Bangladesh. Issued by Pakistan Ordnance Factories, this opportunity focuses on logistics and transportation services ensuring safe and timely delivery of hazardous cargo.
The scope includes arranging shipment by sea on CFR basis, covering all charges such as stuffing, fumigation, lashing, loading, unloading, transportation, container handling, terminal handling, and stevedoring. The consignment involves dangerous goods requiring strict adherence to IATA and IMDG regulations. Shipment must be direct with no transshipment or partial shipment allowed, and vessels must meet specific age and size criteria. The freight forwarder must provide vessel names and ensure no Indian or Israeli ports are called en route. The cargo will be containerized and dispatched from Karachi Port with all customs clearance handled by the Export Division.
Bidders must be registered on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) of FBR and provide evidence of previous experience handling dangerous goods shipments within the last three years. The tender requires a 5% bid money in the form of a Deposit At Call Receipt and a 10% performance bond upon award. Firms must comply with professional tax and sales tax registration requirements and submit all necessary documentation as per annexures. The contract will be awarded based on lump sum freight quotations inclusive of all charges.
Submission deadline is on the 17th of February 2026 by 10:30 AM, with bid opening at 11:00 AM at the Bid Center adjacent to Rabita Hall, Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah Cantt. Tenderers may witness the opening with prior approval and must submit sealed quotations clearly marked with tender details. The tender fee varies based on freight value and must accompany the bid.
Pro-Tip: Ensure your firm's documentation for handling dangerous goods and ATL registration is complete and up to date. Missing these often leads to disqualification. Also, carefully review the vessel age and route restrictions to avoid non-compliance that could result in blacklisting by POF.
