National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) 2026-27 Research Proposal Submission

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad invites research proposals under the National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) for the fiscal year 2026-27. This program aims to support high-quality, innovative, interdisciplinary, and solution-oriented research with strategic relevance to Pakistan's socio-economic development, industry, and society. Items being procured: - Research proposals in Social, Behavioural, Economic & Human Sciences - Research proposals in Natural & Emerging Sciences - Research proposals in Product, Process & Technology Development Applicants must submit research proposal outlines through the online portal at https://www.hec.gov.pk/english/services/universities/nrpu/Pages/Introduction.aspx. The application process consists of two stages: submission of short proposals (Stage 1) and detailed proposals (Stage 2) for shortlisted candidates. An application fee of Rs. 5,000 must be deposited online using 1link/1bill service through mobile banking app or internet banking. The maximum project duration is 24 months. Important to note, universities with more than five delayed or unsettled cases are not eligible to apply. The program encourages joint research proposals in collaboration with researchers and institutions from multiple countries including USA, Turkey, China, EU, UK, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, and others.
