Tender Description
The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, is procuring furniture and fixtures specifically for its Schools and Institutions located at the H-12 Campus in Islamabad. This procurement targets reliable, experienced, and financially sound manufacturers or suppliers of furniture who hold valid NTN and Sales Tax registrations. The scope includes a variety of furniture items such as classroom chairs, instructor tables, notice boards, rostrums, sofa-type chairs with foldable armrests, faculty lounge serving tables, stainless steel planters, computer library chairs, and tea poys, all detailed in the annexures attached to the tender documents.
The technical scope requires adherence to strict specifications and quality standards, including new and genuine items with a minimum one-year warranty covering repair, maintenance, and replacement without additional cost. Suppliers must provide bid security equal to 3% of the total quoted value and submit bids through the EPADS system under a single-stage, single-envelope procedure. The delivery timeline is set at a maximum of 4 weeks for supply and an additional 2 weeks for installation, testing, and commissioning.
Eligibility criteria demand registration with FBR for sales and income tax, active status on the tax payer list, registration with SECP as a furniture manufacturer, and no blacklisting or litigation history. Bidders must also submit technical proposals conforming to the specifications and provide various supporting documents including NTN certificates, sales tax certificates, utility bills, and inspection certificates.
The submission deadline is strictly enforced, and bids must be valid for at least 90 days post-opening. The procurement process allows for item-wise or lot-wise selection based on samples and bid prices. The contract includes provisions for performance guarantees, penalties for delays, and risk-and-expense purchases in case of supplier default.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure complete and clear documentation, especially the bid security and technical compliance, as incomplete or ambiguous bids will be rejected outright. Early inspection of samples at the P&LP Directorate is recommended to align quotations accurately with NUST's requirements. This tender offers a significant opportunity for qualified furniture manufacturers to engage with a prestigious institution in Islamabad with clear terms and a structured evaluation process.
