Tender Description
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Finance & Accounts Department Contract Management Wing invites bids for the desilting of nala and transportation of de-silted material to designated dump sites at Karachi District East for the Monsoon Year 2026. This tender is specific to Karachi city under the jurisdiction of KMC and aims to ensure uninterrupted storm water flow during the monsoon season to minimize urban flooding and environmental hazards.
The technical scope includes complete cleaning and de-silting of open nallahs, storm water drains, culverts, and allied drainage structures. The work involves excavation and removal of wet silt, sludge, municipal waste, debris, vegetation, and other obstructions. Mechanical operations require deployment of machinery such as long boom excavators, wheel excavators, chain excavators, front end loaders, dozers, winching machines, water pumping sets, dumpers, and dewatering equipment. Transportation of de-silted material must be leak-proof, covered, and delivered to approved dumping sites without spillage or illegal disposal.
Eligibility criteria require valid NTN, active FBR ATL status, PEC registration in category C-4 or above with relevant codes, valid sales tax registration, and at least three years of relevant experience in desilting or cleaning of nallahs or storm water drains. Bidders must have completed similar works with KMC in the last three years and demonstrate capability for rain emergency operations. Financial requirements include average annual turnover not less than the quoted bid amount and submission of bank statements and tax returns.
The tender fee is Rs. 5,000 and earnest money is 5% of the estimated cost. Bids must be submitted electronically via the Sindh E-Procurement and Disposal System (EPADS) portal by 3:00 p.m. on 8th June 2026, with original bidding document fee pay order submitted to the office of the Director (CMW), KMC. Bids will be opened the same day at 3:30 p.m. at the KMC office. Late bids will be rejected. The contract period is 3.5 months with possible extension. The contractor must comply with all safety, environmental, and municipal regulations.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure all bid documents are properly signed, stamped, and complete with no blanks or conditional offers. Strict adherence to the eligibility and qualification criteria will avoid disqualification. Early preparation of machinery and manpower deployment plans aligned with the scope of work will enhance chances of successful contract execution and timely completion.
