Tender Description
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Engineering Department invites bids for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the road from Shah Faisal Road towards Abdullah Coach Bus Stop located in Nawab Khan Colony UC-03 Baldia Town, District Keamari, Karachi. This project involves comprehensive civil works aimed at enhancing the road infrastructure to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.
Items being procured:
- Excavation for pipeline in trenches and pits in soft rock with trimming and dressing
- Providing fence guards, lights, flags, and temporary crossings for non-vehicular traffic
- Laying RCC pipes of ASTM 76-70 class-II wall with fixing and testing
- Refilling excavated material in trenches with watering and ramming
- Cartage of materials like aggregates, spawl, coal, lime, surkhi, bricks, pipes, M.S bars, etc.
- Construction of manholes or inspection chambers with cement plaster and fixing CI manhole covers
- Full hire charges of pumping set for dewatering trenches
- Manufacturing and supplying RCC ring slabs and manhole covers
- Dismantling and removing road metalling
- Earthwork excavation in ordinary soil
- Preparing sub-base with well graded gravel including watering, rolling, and compacting
- Laying aggregate base coarse of 80% CBR compacted to required density
- Laying 2" thick asphalt concrete with rolling and finishing
- Providing and fixing cement paving blocks flooring
- Providing and fixing precast edge blocks
- Pavement marking with reflective thermo plastic paint
- Painting masonry walls (kerb blocks)
- Supplying and fixing reflectorized road studs (cat eyes)
The technical scope includes excavation, pipe laying, road base preparation, asphalt paving, manhole construction, and road safety features installation. The work will be executed under the supervision of the Engineering Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation in Karachi.
Eligibility criteria require bidders to be registered with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in the relevant category, possess valid NTN and SRB registration, and have relevant experience with government projects. Bid security of 5% of the estimated cost is mandatory, along with submission of an Integrity Pact and other required documentation.
Bids must be submitted electronically via the SPPRA e-Procurement System (EPADS) by 14-09-2026 at 11:00 AM. The bids will be opened online on the same day at 11:30 AM. Interested bidders should ensure timely registration on the EPADS portal and comply with all SPPRA rules and notifications.
A practical tip for bidders: Carefully review the detailed Bill of Quantities and ensure all rates are quoted in both figures and words as per the instructions. Any overwriting or corrections must be initialed and stamped to avoid disqualification. Also, ensure the bid amount is rounded to the nearest rupee as per the High Court order to prevent rejection.
