Tender Description
The Water and Power Department Gilgit-Baltistan invites sealed tenders for the restoration and reconstruction works at the 850 KW Hydropower Station Parri in Gilgit. The works include restoration of the forebay access road and reconstruction of the damaged forebay, wasteway, and power channel. These projects are critical for maintaining the infrastructure of the Hydropower Station and ensuring its operational efficiency.
The technical scope covers civil engineering works involving hydraulic structures such as forebay and wasteway, along with road restoration. The restoration of the forebay access road spans at least 1.5 kilometers, requiring completion certificates duly countersigned by the Executive Engineer. The estimated cost for restoration is Rs. 13.499 million and for reconstruction Rs. 18.099 million, with bid securities of Rs. 0.270 million and Rs. 0.362 million respectively.
Eligible bidders must be registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in the relevant category for 2025-2026 and hold renewal receipts from the Water and Power Department Gilgit-Baltistan. Specialization codes CE-04(iv), CE-04(vii), and CE-11(i) are mandatory. Experience in similar hydraulic works executed within the last five years is required, with at least one project having 80% of the estimated cost. No sick or blacklisted firms will be entertained. Earnest money of 2% of the bid value is mandatory, and bids quoting below 25% of the engineer’s estimate will be rejected.
The tender documents can be purchased from the Executive Engineer’s office on payment of Rs. 8,000 during office hours. The last date for submission is 16th July 2026 at 12:00 PM sharp, with opening at 1:00 PM the same day. Bidders should ensure all documents are complete and submitted timely to avoid disqualification. A practical tip is to carefully review the bid security and performance guarantee requirements to avoid common pitfalls that lead to rejection.
