Tender Description
The Town Municipal Corporation Malir in Karachi, Sindh, is procuring small works contracts with estimated costs ranging between Rs. 2.5 million to Rs. 50 million. This procurement is specifically aimed at contractors interested in executing civil works under the standard bidding document framework designed for contracts up to Rs. 2.5 million. The scope includes various construction and civil works as detailed in the Bill of Quantities, which bidders must carefully review. The works will be executed at designated sites within Malir, with strict adherence to specifications, drawings, and instructions provided by the Engineer-in-charge.
Eligible bidders must be registered with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and possess a valid National Tax Number (NTN). Where applicable, registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is required, along with relevant experience and a satisfactory turnover statement for the current financial year. Earnest Money in the form of a bid security or CDR is mandatory and must be submitted with the technical bid to avoid rejection. Bidders should ensure their bids are complete, responsive, and free from conditional offers to qualify for evaluation.
The tender documents include detailed instructions to bidders, conditions of contract, contract data, and specifications. Bidders are advised to submit their bids before the closing date, which is strictly enforced, with late submissions returned unopened. The submission address and exact deadlines will be provided in the bidding documents. It is crucial for bidders to attend the site inspection and understand the measurement and payment procedures, including interim and final bill submissions.
A practical tip for bidders is to thoroughly check the arithmetic accuracy of their bids, as any discrepancies between unit rates and total costs will be rectified according to the rules, potentially affecting the final bid evaluation. Ensuring all documentation, including bid security and registration certificates, is complete and properly submitted will enhance the chances of success in this competitive procurement process.
