Tender Description
Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) Karachi is procuring specialized Welding Inspection and Industrial Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services including PAUT, TOFD, and DPT for the rehabilitation of Steel High Pressure (HP) pipelines of 4", 8", and 12" diameter. This project covers multiple locations in Karachi such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Orangi Town, Korangi, PECHS, FB Area, and others including KT SSGC and Khadeji Camp Base. The scope includes inspection of weld joints, tie-ins, crossings, valve assemblies, flange assemblies, and other pipeline components to ensure integrity and safety of the gas distribution network.
The technical scope involves above-ground fabrication and installation of mainline pipelines, tie-ins, and crossings. Inspection methods include visual inspection, radiography testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT-Advanced), dye penetrant testing (DPT), and certification of welders as per API 1104 and ASME standards. The contractor must provide qualified staff, equipment, and transport to perform these inspections and maintain quality assurance through QA/QC engineers. The project aims to reduce gas losses, improve supply pressure, and optimize the gas distribution network in Karachi.
Eligible bidders must be registered on the FBR Active Taxpayer List (ATL) and have relevant experience in welding inspection and industrial NDT services. PEC registration is not explicitly mentioned but firms with local or international experience and valid ISO certificates are preferred. Bidders must submit technical and financial proposals in separate sealed envelopes under the Single Stage Two Envelope Bidding Procedure. A fixed bid bond of PKR 181,000 is mandatory. The bid validity period is 120 days from the date of public opening.
The tender was published on 13-April-2025 and bids must be submitted online via EPADS portal by 29-April-2026 at 10:30 hours. Public bid opening will be held the same day at 11:00 hours. Physical submission of bid bond is required at SSGC Head Office Tender Room before bid submission. The submission address for physical documents is SSGC House, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Block-14, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure timely registration and participation through the EPADS portal as bids submitted outside this system will be rejected. Also, carefully prepare the technical bid with all required documents signed and stamped, and submit the physical bid bond on time to avoid disqualification. Early preparation of the bid bond and confirmation of all technical requirements will enhance chances of success in this competitive tender.
