Tender Description
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Finance & Accounts Department Contract Management Wing invites bids for the desilting of nala and transportation of de-silted material to designated dump sites at Karachi District Central for the Monsoon Year 2026. This tender is specific to Karachi city and aims to ensure uninterrupted storm water flow during the monsoon season by clearing natural and artificial storm water drains, box culverts, sewer crossings, and allied drainage structures. The scope includes manual and mechanical de-silting, removal of sludge, mud, municipal waste, vegetation, and other obstructions. The contractor must provide all machinery such as long boom excavators, wheel excavators, front end loaders, D-7 dozers, pumping sets, winching machines, dumpers, and other equipment in workable condition. Transportation of de-silted material to approved dumping sites like Jam Chakro and Gond Pass is mandatory with strict compliance to environmental and traffic regulations.
Eligibility criteria require bidders to have valid NTN, active FBR ATL status, PEC registration in category C-4 or above with relevant codes, and at least three years of relevant experience in similar works with government or public organizations. Bidders must also submit bid security of 5% of the estimated cost and a non-refundable bidding document fee of Rs. 5,000. The bid validity period is 90 days with possible extension. The contract period is 3.5 months with liquidated damages applicable for delays.
Bids must be submitted electronically via the Sindh E-Procurement and Disposal System (EPADS) portal by 3:00 p.m. on 8th June 2026. Original bidding document fee pay order must also be submitted to the office of the Director Contract Management Wing, KMC, by the deadline. Bidders should ensure unconditional bids with all required documents including authorization letters, affidavits on judicial stamp papers, and financial statements.
A practical tip for bidders is to carefully review the scope of work and SOPs to ensure full compliance with environmental, safety, and operational requirements. Proper documentation and timely submission of bid security and bidding fees are critical to avoid disqualification. Coordination with third party monitoring consultants appointed by KMC is mandatory during execution. The department emphasizes strict adherence to quality standards and timely completion to avoid penalties and blacklisting.
