Tender Description
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department invites bids for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the street lighting system at Faqeer Colony Road from Al Sadaf Colony to N-4 Stop in District West, Karachi. This tender is part of the annual procurement plan for the financial year 2026-27 and aims to enhance the street lighting infrastructure to improve safety and visibility in the area.
Items being procured:
- Providing and laying two core copper conductor PVC insulated and sheathed cable 2.5mm2
- Fixing MS tubular poles of 31ft length with base plates and holes, including painting and rust prevention
- Construction of RCC foundations for poles
- Providing and fixing 400 watt flood lights with complete wiring
- Installation of circuit breakers of various amperages on prepared boards
- Fixing magnetic contractors FC80N
- Installation of 10 Amps photo cells (National Japan)
- ABC connectors suitable for 16mm ABC bundle cable
- Manufacturing and fixing GI double arm canopy type and single arm canopy type with GI pipes and MS clamps
- Laying ABC bundle cable two core 16mm aluminum conductor
- Providing and fixing LED street lights 150 watt with IP-66 rating and 10KV SPD
- Fixing distribution boards with locking arrangements and bus bars
- Providing and fixing sets of shackle insulators, iron clamps, U-clamps with nuts and bolts
The technical scope includes complete rehabilitation of the street lighting system, involving cable laying, pole installation, floodlight and LED street light fixing, and associated electrical works. The work will be executed under the supervision of the Executive Engineer, CM(E&M), Engineering Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
Eligibility criteria require bidders to have valid PEC registration in categories C-5, EE-06 or above, NTN certificate, active tax payer status, Sindh Revenue Board registration, valid electrical contractor license from the Government of Sindh (Karachi Region), and proven experience of similar works in the last five years. Financial soundness must be demonstrated with a minimum annual turnover not less than the estimated cost.
Bids must be submitted online through the EPADS system by 21-08-2026 at 2:00 PM. The bid opening will take place on the same day at 2:30 PM at the Office of Superintending Engineer (E&M), 512 J.M New M.A. Jinnah Road, Gurumandir, Karachi. A bid security of 5% of the estimated cost is required along with a tender cost of Rs. 5,000. Physical submission of pay orders and supporting documents is also mandatory before the closing time.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure all corrections in the bid documents are initialed and stamped by the contractor to avoid rejection. Also, joint ventures are allowed subject to PEC rules compliance. Careful adherence to the SPPRA regulations and timely submission through the EPADS portal is essential for successful participation.
