Improvement and Rehabilitation of Street Lighting System from Two Swords Roundabout to Zainab Market District South Karachi

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department invites bids for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the Street Lighting System from Two Swords Roundabout to Zainab Market excluding KPT underpass and old Clifton Bridge in District South, Karachi. This project involves comprehensive electrical and civil works to upgrade the street lighting infrastructure to enhance safety and visibility in the area. Items being procured: - Providing and laying two core copper conductor PVC insulated and PVC sheeted cable 2.5mm2 (600 Rft) - Fixing of 400 watts flood lights (26 units) with IP65 classification including lamp, choke, capacitor, igniter and internal wiring - Installation of circuit breakers of various amperages (28 units) - Fixing magnetic contactors FC80N (14 units) - Installation of 10 Amps photo cells (5 units) replacing old/damaged ones - Providing and fixing LED street lights 150 Watt Aluminum die cast IP-66 with powder coated housing (160 units) - Dismantling of street light poles 31/40ft with hydraulic crane (155 units) - Painting of street light/high mast poles up to 31/40 ft with two coats of ICI oil paint (83 units) - Providing and fixing ABC connectors suitable for 16mm ABC bundle cable (206 units) - Fixing distribution boards 18"x16"x6" with locking arrangement and bus bars (5 units) - Laying ABC bundle cable two core 16mm Aluminum conductor (2100 Mtr) The technical scope includes electrical wiring, installation of flood lights, circuit breakers, magnetic contactors, photo cells, LED street lights, dismantling and painting of poles, and laying of ABC cables. The site is located in Karachi's District South, requiring specialized equipment such as hydraulic cranes and skilled labor for installation and dismantling. Eligibility criteria require bidders to have valid PEC registration in categories C-6, EE-06 or above, NTN certificate, active tax payer status, registration with Sindh Revenue Board, valid electrical contractor license from the Government of Sindh (Karachi Region), and a PEC registered engineer on staff. Experience of similar works in the past five years is mandatory, with at least one work equivalent to 80% of the estimated cost or two works equivalent to 50%. Financial soundness must be demonstrated with a minimum annual turnover not less than the estimated cost. Bids must be submitted online via the EPADS system on or before 21-08-2026 by 10:00 AM. The bid opening will be held on the same day at 10:30 AM at the Office of Superintending Engineer (E&M), 512 J.M New M.A. Jinnah Road Gurumandir Karachi. The bid security is 5% of the estimated cost and tender cost is Rs. 5,000. Earnest money must be submitted as a pay order in favor of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
