The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department invites bids for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the street lighting system at Sharah-e-Ibn-e-Sina Road from Gujjar Nallah to Orangi Nallah, located in District Central, Karachi. This tender is part of the annual procurement plan for the financial year 2026-27 and aims to enhance the street lighting infrastructure to improve safety and visibility in the area.
Items being procured:
- Providing and laying two core copper PVC insulated and sheathed cable 1.5mm2
- Fixing MS tubular poles (31ft) with base plates, holes, stiffeners, and painting
- Construction of RCC foundations for poles including excavation and stone soiling
- Providing and fixing MS bolts and templates
- Installation of circuit breakers (15 to 100 Amps) on prepared boards
- Providing and fixing magnetic contractors FC80N
- Installation of 10 Amps photo cells (National Japan)
- Providing and fixing LED street lights 150 Watt Aluminum die cast IP-66 with powder coated housing, 150 lm/watt, CRI 70+, 10KV SPD with 3 years replacement warranty
- Installation of ABC connectors and two core 16mm aluminum conductor ABC bundle cable
- Dismantling of existing 250 watt street light fittings including transportation to KMC workshop
- Painting of street light/high mast poles with two coats of ICI oil paint
- Providing and fixing distribution boards 18"x18"x8" with locking and bus bars
- Providing and fixing sets of shackle insulators, iron clamps, U-clamps with nuts and bolts
The technical scope includes supply, installation, and commissioning of electrical components and street lighting infrastructure along the specified road section. The work involves civil foundation construction, electrical wiring, pole erection, and replacement of old fittings with energy-efficient LED lights.
Eligibility criteria require bidders to have valid PEC registration in categories C-6 or EE-06 and above, NTN certificate, Sindh Revenue Board registration, valid electrical contractor license from the Government of Sindh (Karachi Region), and a PEC registered engineer on staff. Bidders must demonstrate experience with similar works executed in the last five years, with at least one contract equivalent to 80% of the estimated cost or two contracts equivalent to 50% each. Financial soundness is verified through a minimum annual turnover matching the estimated cost, supported by bank statements.
Bids must be submitted online via the EPADS e-Procurement system by 27 August 2026 at 2:00 PM. Physical submission of bid security pay orders and supporting documents is required at the Office of the Superintending Engineer (E&M), 512 J.M New M.A. Jinnah Road, Gurumandir, Karachi before the deadline. The bid opening will take place on the same day at 2:30 PM at the same venue.
A bid security of 5% of the estimated cost is mandatory, along with a tender cost of Rs. 5,000. The contract will be awarded through a Single Stage One Envelope method. The procuring agency reserves the right to reject any or all bids as per SPPRA rules.
