Tender Description

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department invites bids for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the Street Lighting System at Lily Bridge, its approach road, and Fatima Jinnah Road in District South, Karachi. This procurement is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance public infrastructure and ensure safer, well-lit roads in the city. The project includes comprehensive electrical and civil works to upgrade the existing street lighting system. Items being procured: - Providing and laying main or sub-main PVC insulated and PVC sheeted two core copper conductor cables 2.5mm2, 300/500 volts, quantity 591 Rft - Installation of circuit breakers (15, 20, 30, 40, 60, 75 & 100 Amps T.P. XS-100NS) on prepared boards, quantity 28 Nos - Providing and fixing Magnetic Contractor FC80N, quantity 1 No - Installation of 10 Amps Photo cells (National Japan), quantity 1 No - Providing and fixing LED street lights 150 Watt Aluminum die cast IP-66 with powder coated housing, minimum 150 lm/watt, CRI 70+, 10KV SPD, quantity 111 Nos - Dismantling of street light poles (31/40 ft) with hydraulic crane, loading, unloading, and transportation to KMC workshop, quantity 111 Nos - Painting of street light/high mast poles up to 31/40 ft with two coats of ICI oil paint using hydraulic crane and manual labor, quantity 99 Nos - Providing and fixing distribution boards 18"x16"x6" with locking arrangement and bus bar, quantity 1 No - Installation of ABC connectors suitable for 16mm ABC bundle cable, quantity 206 Nos - Laying ABC bundle cable two core 16mm Aluminum conductor, quantity 1000 Mtr The technical scope covers electrical wiring, installation of circuit breakers, photo cells, LED street lights, dismantling and painting of poles, and associated civil works. The site is located in District South, Karachi, and all works must comply with the specifications and standards provided by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. Eligibility criteria include valid PEC registration in categories C-6, EE-06 or above, NTN certificate with active tax payer status, Sindh Revenue Board registration, valid Electric Contractors License from the Electrical Inspector Government of Sindh (Karachi Region), proof of PEC registered engineer in the firm, and relevant experience of executing similar works within the last five years. Financial soundness must be demonstrated with a minimum annual turnover not less than the estimated cost. Bids must be submitted online through the EPADS system by 21-08-2026 at 10:00 AM. The bid opening will take place on the same day at 10:30 AM at the Office of Superintending Engineer (E&M), 512 J.M New M.A. Jinnah Road, Gurumandir, Karachi. A bid security of 5% of the estimated cost and a tender cost of Rs. 5,000 are required. The bid validity period is 90 days. Performance security of 5% of the estimated cost is also mandatory. Bidders are advised to carefully follow the instructions regarding bid preparation, submission, and eligibility requirements. It is recommended to ensure all corrections in the bid are initialed and that the firm's name appears on all pay orders and securities to avoid rejection.
