Tender Description
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Engineering Department invites bids for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the street lighting system at Sharah-e-Qazzafi, District West, Karachi. This tender is part of the annual procurement plan for the financial year 2026-27 and aims to enhance the electrical infrastructure and public lighting in the specified area to improve safety and visibility for residents and commuters.
Items being procured:
- Providing and laying two core copper conductor PVC insulated and sheathed cable 2.5mm2 (2100 Rft)
- Providing and fixing MS tubular poles 31ft with base plate, holes, stiffeners, and painting
- Construction of RCC foundation for poles including excavation, stone soiling, lean concrete, and reinforcement
- Manufacturing and fixing GI double arm canopy type fittings with hydraulic crane and manual labor
- Providing and fixing circuit breakers of various amperages on prepared boards
- Providing and fixing magnetic contractors FC80N
- Providing and fixing 10 Amps photo cells after removal of old/damaged units
- Providing and fixing LED street lights 150 Watt Aluminum die cast IP-66 with powder coated housing and SPD
- Providing ABC connectors and laying ABC bundle cable two core 16mm aluminum conductor
- Painting of street light/high mast poles with two coats of ICI oil paint
- Providing and fixing sets of shackle insulators, iron clamps, U-clamps with nuts and bolts
- Providing and fixing distribution boards with locking arrangements and bus bars
- Dismantling of street light fittings 250 watts including loading, unloading, and transportation
The technical scope includes the supply and installation of electrical cables, poles, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and associated hardware. The work involves civil construction for pole foundations, electrical installation, and painting. The site is located in Karachi, Sindh province.
Eligibility criteria require bidders to have valid PEC registration in categories C-5, EE-06 or above, NTN certificate, active tax payer status, registration with Sindh Revenue Board, valid electrical contractor license from the Government of Sindh, and proof of PEC registered engineer on staff. Experience of similar works in the last five years with minimum financial turnover matching the estimated cost is mandatory. Earnest money of 5% of the estimated cost and tender cost of Rs. 5,000 are required.
Bids must be submitted online via the EPADS system on or before 21-08-2026 by 2:00 PM. The bid opening will be held on the same day at 2:30 PM at the Office of Superintending Engineer (E&M), 512 J.M New M.A. Jinnah Road, Gurumandir, Karachi. Physical submission of bid security pay orders and affidavits is also required before the closing time.
A practical tip for bidders is to ensure all corrections in the bid documents are initialed and stamped by the contractor to avoid rejection.
