Conservation, Preservation & Rehabilitation of Makli Heritage Site

The Directorate General of Antiquities & Archaeology, under the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities & Archives Department Government of Sindh, Karachi, invites bids for the Conservation, Preservation & Rehabilitation of the historic Makli site. This tender covers specialized conservation and restoration works on archaeological and heritage monuments, requiring expert contractors with experience in heritage preservation. Items being procured: - Documentation and surveying through still, video and drone photography including geological and underground water expert research - Removal of scattered debris and careful excavation - Clearing jungle and shrubs with root removal - Grouting cracks with lime chiroli mortar - Replacement of damaged burnt brick tiles of special size - Re-pointing flush of eroded joints of brick and stone masonry - Lime concrete laying - Removal of eroded cement or lime plaster - Plastering with chiroli plaster and lime sand plaster with reinforcement - Supplying and fixing sand stone and re-setting existing sandstone masonry - Carving on sandstone with existing design - Water tightening of walls and roofs with brick tiles - Rubble masonry with chiroli sand mortar - Mud capping on walls with sundried bricks - Supply and installation of lithium batteries for golf vehicles - Various other masonry, concrete, painting, and iron works as detailed in the bill of quantities The technical scope includes careful handling of archaeological sites, use of traditional materials like lime mortar, chiroli, and surkhi, and ensuring preservation of original architectural features. The contractor must have PEC registration with relevant categories BC-02 & CE-10, valid FBR/NTN registration, and at least five years of experience with similar heritage conservation projects. Earnest money of Rs. 1,800,000/- is required in the form of Call Deposit, Pay Order, or Bank Guarantee. Bids must be submitted through the SPPRA e-procurement portal (EPAD System). The pre-bid meeting will be held at the Directorate General of Antiquities & Archaeology office in Clifton, Karachi.
