Stakeholders Consultative Workshop for Digitization of Power Distribution Sector Through AMI Deployment

The Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), under the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Government of Pakistan, is organizing a stakeholders consultative workshop focused on the digitization of the power distribution sector through Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment. This initiative supports the Government of Pakistan's efforts to modernize the power distribution network, enhance energy security, and improve operational efficiency. The workshop aims to gather feedback on the draft 'Framework Guidelines for Deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure through Public-Private Partnerships, 2026' which can be accessed at https://www.ppib.gov.pk/ppibami.html. The AMI deployment involves installation, operation, and maintenance of approximately 16.2 million smart meters and associated infrastructure across five DISCOs: LESCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HAZECO, and QESCO. Participants invited include international and local investors, lenders, sponsors, developers, equipment manufacturers, telecom operators, and technology integrators. The workshop will be conducted online, and interested parties must register by sending company profiles and authorized representatives' contact details to ami@ppib.gov.pk by Thursday, 15th October 2026. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 20th October 2026 at 1430 hrs. This workshop provides a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to influence the AMI deployment framework and engage with key players in Pakistan's power sector modernization.
