Tender Description
This tender invites bids for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of internal roads connectivity of major roads in Karachi District West, including improvement and rehabilitation of 19-D Road from Faqir Colony to Rasheedabad and Road Number-04 from Safir Hospital to Urdu Chowk including Road Number-05 in Orangi Town. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's Engineering Department requires experienced contractors to execute comprehensive road works involving dismantling of existing asphalt and concrete roads, earth excavation, sub-base preparation, aggregate base course laying, prime and tack coat application, and asphalt concrete wearing course laying. The scope also includes sewerage system works, median and footpath construction, ancillary works like road studs and pavement marking, and electrical works such as street lighting and cable laying.
The project demands adherence to high-quality standards with materials like well-graded gravel, cement concrete, and asphalt concrete meeting specified PSI requirements. Contractors must ensure proper site management, safety, and environmental protection throughout the six-month contract period. The engineering challenges include maintaining traffic flow during construction, managing underground utilities, and ensuring durability under Karachi's climatic conditions.
Bidders must be registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in relevant categories, be on the active tax payer lists of FBR and Sindh Revenue Board, and demonstrate financial capability with an average annual turnover aligned with the project scale. Compliance with the Integrity Pact and submission of bid security at 5% of the estimated cost are mandatory. The contract includes provisions for mobilization advance, performance security, and liquidated damages for delays.
The submission deadline is set for 06 February 2026 at 11:00 AM, with bid opening shortly after. Bids must be submitted online via the SPPRA e-Procurement System (EPADS). The physical address for correspondence is the Office of the Chairman Procurement Committee, Engineering Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Muslimabad, Karachi. Interested bidders should carefully review the detailed bidding documents and ensure all eligibility and qualification criteria are met.
Pro-Tip: Ensure your bid documents include the correct stamp duty payment of 0.35% of the contract value as per the latest regulations, and double-check the bid security submission both online and physically before the bid opening date to avoid disqualification.
